Speaking in Lagos during the unveiling of his five-point agenda, he called for a transparent direct primary process and urged all contestants to participate freely without imposition of any candidate.

He referenced President Bola Tinubu’s support for the signing of the 2026 Electoral Act, saying it reflects a push for internal party democracy and the use of direct primaries to strengthen fairness within political parties.

Jim-Kamal also appealed to delegates expected at the primary election to vote according to their conscience and choose a candidate capable of delivering effective governance for Lagos State.

He further encouraged peaceful conduct during the exercise, urging party members to set an example of political maturity in the state.

The aspirant also clarified that the upcoming primary would be conducted using the Option A4 system, describing it as a direct voting method now being adopted by the APC.

He dismissed claims of a consensus arrangement in favour of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, arguing that reports of endorsement were exaggerated and not officially confirmed.

According to him, consensus arrangements often create division within parties and should not replace open competition among aspirants.
