Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Confident of Defeating Adeleke, Says Victory Will Come Through Voters
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has expressed confidence that he will defeat the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, in the August 15 governorship election.
Oyebamiji spoke on Tuesday at the Arise News Osun Governorship Town Hall held at the Aurora Event Centre in Osogbo, where he dismissed suggestions that his campaign was relying on federal influence to secure victory.
The former Commissioner for Finance said his confidence was based on the support he had received during extensive consultations across the state.
According to him, he had visited more than 30 local government areas in Osun three times, meeting APC members, community leaders, traders, artisans, youths, women and civil servants.
“I have visited 30-plus local government areas in Osun State three times. Nobody has ever done that,” Oyebamiji said.
He explained that his first round of consultations focused on APC members and the party’s plans to reclaim the state, which he claimed received overwhelming support.
He said the second round involved the inauguration of campaign canvassers across the local government areas, describing their enthusiasm and commitment as encouraging.
“The canvassers were charged, they were motivated, and they were encouraged. It’s quite illuminating,” he said.
Oyebamiji said his third round of consultations involved interactions with key stakeholders, including market leaders, artisans and civil servants.
He claimed that the interactions further convinced him that many residents were seeking a change in leadership.
The APC candidate also said his campaign had received endorsements from about 42 groups and professional bodies within the past two months.
Oyebamiji maintained that the outcome of the election would ultimately be determined by the people of Osun rather than federal influence or any other external force.
“By the special grace of God, I’m coming in as the governor of Osun come 15th of August 2026. It is not by any power, whether it is national power or mighty power, it is by the people,” he said.
He also downplayed concerns about Adeleke’s popularity, urging voters to compare both candidates based on their experience, background, competence and track records.
Oyebamiji challenged voters to consider who they would choose if they were selecting a managing director for a private company, arguing that his professional and administrative experience placed him ahead of the incumbent governor.
The APC candidate expressed confidence that voters would ultimately make their decision based on his credentials and what he described as his capacity to lead Osun State.
