Former Big Brother Naija housemate and media personality Teddy A has criticized Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde over what he described as the worsening security situation in the state following the recent abduction of school pupils and teachers.

Reacting to the incident, Teddy A alleged that Oyo State receives about ₦12 billion annually as security votes from the federation account, yet residents continue to face persistent insecurity. He accused the governor of failing to adequately protect lives and property, and also suggested that political ambitions were being prioritized over security concerns.

His remarks came after the abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers in Oyo State sparked widespread public outrage.
The attack reportedly occurred on May 15, 2026, when armed gunmen stormed schools in the Ahoro-Esinele community of Oriire Local Government Area in the Ogbomoso axis, kidnapping 39 pupils and seven teachers.

During the incident, reports indicated that one hostage, a mathematics teacher identified as Michael Oyedokun, was later killed in a disturbing video released by the abductors.
Security operations have since been ongoing, with authorities facing challenges such as difficult terrain, heavy rainfall, and suspected explosive devices planted by the attackers. Security agencies and local vigilantes have continued search and rescue efforts while families of the victims have staged protests demanding the release of those still in captivity.

The incident has also triggered broader discussions on security responsibility and accountability between state and federal authorities in addressing rising insecurity across the country.
