The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed that its operatives, in collaboration with local hunters and other security agencies, neutralised three suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during a security operation in Otu, Oke-Ogun axis of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, following an intelligence-led response to a distress call received on May 25, 2026.
According to the police, local hunters had earlier come under attack from suspected kidnappers while on a hunting expedition in the area, prompting a coordinated rescue operation.

The statement explained that upon arrival at the scene, the security team was engaged in a gun duel with the suspects, during which three kidnappers were overpowered and neutralised through superior tactical response.
An abducted victim, identified as 50-year-old Mosudi Gbolagade, who was reportedly kidnapped from Okaka and held in the Otu area, was rescued during the operation.

The victim sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately evacuated for medical treatment, while one of the participating local hunters also suffered injuries and is currently receiving care in a hospital.
Items recovered from the scene include an AK-47 rifle without ammunition, a single-barrel gun, and a machete.

The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives and local hunters for their courage and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained operations against criminal elements across the state, urging residents to continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies.
