The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a press briefing, noting that the arrests were achieved through intelligence-driven operations, coordinated raids, and strategic deployment of officers across identified crime hotspots.

He added that the command recovered several items during the operations, including locally made firearms, a cut-to-size pistol, an English Beretta pistol, handguns, telecom batteries, cutlasses, a knife, suspected Indian hemp, charms, and other items believed to be connected to criminal activity.

According to him, 58 of the suspects were arrested on April 27 for alleged involvement in street violence, traffic robbery, harassment of motorists, and vandalism along the Lekki axis.

The suspects were reportedly linked to a group known as the “Omotaku Boys,” accused of phone snatching and intimidation of residents in the area.

In a separate operation, police operatives also arrested two individuals suspected of kidnapping and murder in Ikorodu on the same day. The suspects were identified as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Anthony Ogunata, 21.

The police command said the arrests reflect its continued commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring public safety across Lagos State.
