The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered two FN FAL assault rifles and live ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest, located along the Plateau-Bauchi border.
The operation followed ongoing investigations into the arrest of four suspects accused of supplying arms, ammunition and illicit drugs to bandits.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the raid on August 2 after receiving credible intelligence from one of the suspects, identified as Musbahu Ishaq.
She explained that information provided during interrogation led officers to the forest, where the criminal group was believed to have one of its operational camps.
Investigations further revealed that Ishaq allegedly obtained weapons and ammunition from Rabiu Hassan before supplying them to a suspected bandit leader, Baba Alhaji Sanusi, who is currently on the run and is believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
During the search of the hideout, police recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition hidden within the forest.
The command said efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate, recover more weapons linked to the group and prosecute all suspects involved.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, stressing that security operations would continue until all members of the network are arrested and brought to justice.
The police also appealed to residents to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information through the nearest police station or the command’s emergency lines.
