The announcement was made on Monday by the Chairman of the PDP Kano State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Umar Hadejia, who said the exercise was conducted peacefully and in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

He stated that the primary election, held to determine the party’s candidate for the upcoming governorship poll in Kano State, was transparent and orderly.

According to the official results, Mohammed Abacha polled 749 votes, while Dalhatu recorded 2,233 votes to emerge as the winner of the contest.

Hadejia formally declared Dalhatu the PDP flagbearer for the Kano governorship election, commending delegates, aspirants, party officials, security agencies, and other stakeholders for their conduct during the process.

He also called on party members to unite ahead of the general election in order to strengthen the PDP’s chances in the state.

Mohammed Abacha had previously contested for the PDP ticket in 2023 but lost amid internal party disputes. He also ran as a governorship candidate under the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance in the 2019 election in Kano State.
