#Power Outages in 14 Ogun Communities Blamed on Technical Glitch, Says IBEDC

At present, no fewer than 14 communities in Ogun State are grappling with power outages, attributed by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to technical faults in power installations. IBEDC’s spokesperson, Busolami Tunwase, confirmed the issue, revealing that a faulty breaker on the Ijoko 33kV feeder caused a power outage in parts of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government of Ogun.

Affected communities include Sango, Gasline, Oyero, Onipetesi, Agoro, Olowoagolo, Okunola estate, Lagos/Abeokuta road, Elerinko, Shoprite, Abule-Iroko, and others. IBEDC expressed regret and stated that their technical team is collaborating with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to swiftly restore power supply.

Previously, a technical fault on the Sobi 33kV feeder impacted areas in Kwara State, but IBEDC confirmed the resolution of the issue.

Despite these efforts, a nationwide gas shortage continues to affect power supply. Eko Electricity Distribution Company cited low allocation from the grid due to gas shortages, leading to limited supply. The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company also apologized to customers, explaining the constraints caused by gas shortages to generating companies.

Since January, Nigerians have experienced persistent blackouts attributed to gas constraints in the electricity value chain. Despite promises from the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, the issue remains unresolved.
