President Bola Tinubu has assured the international business community of Nigeria’s readiness for serious business, vowing to tackle entrenched interests undermining investor confidence. Addressing Qatari investors at the Nigeria-Qatar Business and Investment Forum in Doha, Tinubu emphasized the ongoing reforms and upgrades in Africa’s largest economy. He urged investors to report any bribery demands, assuring direct access to his office for resolution.
Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s break from past obstacles, urging investors not to let perceptions hinder investment. He highlighted the country’s commitment to revolutionizing investment promotion, ensuring smooth fund flow and free entry and exit. With Mallam Nuhu Ribadu appointed as National Security Adviser, Tinubu reinforced the fight against corruption and insecurity.
Highlighting Nigeria’s vast opportunities across sectors like oil, gas, solid minerals, and tourism, Tinubu encouraged Qatari counterparts to explore partnerships. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, expressed eagerness to collaborate, particularly in low-carbon initiatives and industry.
Accompanying Tinubu were prominent Nigerian leaders and ministers, including Governors Babagana Umara Zulum, Uba Sani, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, along with key advisers and industry stakeholders.
The meeting underscored Nigeria’s commitment to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships and attracting foreign investment to drive economic growth and development.
