The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the dismissal of four senior police officers over allegations of misconduct as part of efforts to uphold discipline and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
The decision was reached during the commission’s plenary meeting held at its headquarters in Abuja and was announced in a statement by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Njoku Kalu.

According to the PSC, the affected officers were found guilty of offences including gross misconduct, unprofessional behaviour, and actions considered unbecoming of public officers.
The commission also approved the demotion of 10 senior officers. The disciplinary action affected three Superintendents of Police who were reduced to the rank of Deputy Superintendent, two Deputy Superintendents of Police who were demoted to Assistant Superintendent, and five Assistant Superintendents of Police who were reduced to the rank of Inspector.

In addition, two officers were directed to proceed on compulsory retirement in what the commission described as being in the public interest.
Other disciplinary measures included severe reprimands for 10 officers, formal reprimands for five officers, warning letters issued to three officers, and a letter of advice for one officer.
Meanwhile, seven officers who were investigated were cleared after the commission found no evidence linking them to any misconduct.

Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu, said the commission remains committed to enforcing discipline across the police force and will continue to take firm action against officers found guilty of misconduct.
He also assured that diligent and outstanding officers would continue to receive recognition through the commission’s reward system as part of efforts to encourage professionalism and quality service.

The PSC reiterated its commitment to strengthening accountability, improving public confidence, and promoting high ethical standards within the Nigeria Police Force.
