Queen Elizabeth II and Diana, Princess of Wales were among prominent figures who “kissed my ass” in letters, Donald Trump has claimed.
The former US president plans to publish a book of correspondence he received before and during his time in the White House.
Publicising the book, Letters to Trump, on the Right-wing website Breitbart, the Republican candidate for the 2024 American election said: “I think they’re going to see a very fascinating life.
“I knew them all – and every one of them kissed my ass,” he said.
It will be the former president’s second book since leaving office. The first was a collection of photographs from his time in the White House.
Letters to Trump contains 150 items of correspondence from an array of prominent figures ranging from the Royal family and senior political figures, including former presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H W Bush, George W Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
There are also letters from world leaders such as Xi Jinping, the Chinese president; Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader; and Jair Bolsonaro, the former Brazilian president.
Mr Trump’s son, Donald Jr, told Breitbart that his father had corresponded with some of the world’s most interesting people.
“It’s amazing how quickly their adoration of him changed when he ran for office as a Republican,” he said.
“Letters to Trump shows you exactly how they felt about him and how phoney their newfound disdain truly is.”
Mr Trump’s links with the Princess date back to the mid-1990s, when they occasionally met at charity functions.
They shared a table, along with Mr Trump’s second wife, Marla Maples, at a dinner in which the Princess was named United Cerebral Palsy Humanitarian of the Year.
Mr Trump was reportedly smitten with the Princess, offering her membership in Mar-a-ago, which she declined.
