Ramadhan Nuggets ‏‏‏

What to Say if You Witness Laylatul Qadr, the Night that is Better than a Thousand Months (of Worship).

Narrated A’ishah:

I said, “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, if I know which night is the Night of Decree, what should I say during it?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “ Say: O Allah, You are Al-‘Afuww (The One Who pardons greatly). You love to pardon, so pardon me.”

Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3513, Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Nawawi & al-Albaani

NOTES 📝

1. Supplicating is a highly recommended act during the period of seeking Laylatul Qadr and that which is established from the Sunnah is the supplication in the hadith under review. Ibn Rajab (rahimahullaah) said: “Al-‘Afuww (The One Who pardons greatly) is from the names of Allah, the Most High; and He overlooks the wrongdoings of His servants, He is The One Who erases their trace from them. He Loves to pardon; and so He Loves to pardon His servants, He likewise Loves from His servants that they should pardon each other, so if they pardon each other; He conducts His pardon with them; and His Pardon is more beloved to Him than His Punishment.” – Lataa-if wal-Ma’aarif, Ibn Rajab

2. Ibn Rajab further stated that: Indeed, he (i.e. the Prophet ﷺ) commanded with asking for pardon on Laylatul Qadr, this being after the striving hard in actions within it and within the final ten nights. This is because the acquainted ones strive in performing actions, yet do not see any good deeds for themselves – not in circumstances nor in statements. So they return back to requesting pardon just like the circumstance of the sinner who falls short. – Lataa-if wal-Ma’aarif, Ibn Rajab

3. Shaykh Fawzan also stated: “O you sinful one! Repent to your Lord and ask Him for forgiveness, for indeed the door of Tawbah has been opened for you, and He calls you to it and made for you a season for goodness. In it the good deeds are multiplied and in it the evil deeds are erased, so take for yourself the means of salvation.” – Itihaafu Ahlil-Eemaan bi daroosi shahri Ramadhan of Ash-Shaykh Saalih bin Fawzaan bin ‘Abdillaah al-Fawzaan

O Allah, aid us in becoming righteous, grant us Taqwa so that we may do abundant good deeds during the month of Ramadhan and beyond. O Allah, You are pardoning. You love to pardon, so pardon (forgive) us … Ãmeen ”

Night 22:We have a God that answers all prayers. Recite ASTAGAFURULAH (100) WALA HAOLA WALA KUAWATA ILLAH BILLAH (100) SUBUHANAKA ANTA ALLAHU ALAZI LAILAH ILLAHUWA (99).

اللهم انك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عنّي

‎Allāhumma innāka ʿafūwwun tuḥibbul ʿafwa fa-ʿfu ʿannī

‎Oh Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me
