The All Progressives Congress conducted its House of Representatives primaries across the country on Saturday ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several prominent politicians and political figures emerging victorious in different constituencies.

Among the notable winners were Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, and Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, both of whom secured APC tickets to contest for seats in the House of Representatives.
Yusuf Buhari recorded a massive victory in the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency primary in Katsina State, defeating his closest challenger with an overwhelming number of votes. Supporters described the result as proof of the Buhari family’s strong political influence in the state.

In Lagos, Obasa emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for the Agege Federal Constituency seat. Speaking after the exercise, he appreciated party members for their confidence in him and promised effective representation if elected.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also secured the APC ticket to seek another term representing Zaria Federal Constituency in Kaduna State after emerging unopposed through an affirmation process conducted across the constituency’s wards.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu equally retained the party’s ticket for Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State, with party delegates endorsing him for another term.
Elsewhere, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, defeated incumbent lawmaker Ngozi Okolie in Delta State, while House spokesperson Akintunde Rotimi emerged victorious in Ekiti after defeating several contenders.

The APC also announced that 14 aspirants across different states were disqualified from participating in the primaries after failing the party’s screening process. Some serving lawmakers were among those affected.
Despite victories recorded in many constituencies, the exercise witnessed controversy in some states. In Kaduna and Adamawa, protests and violence broke out as some party members accused officials of manipulating the process and imposing candidates without proper voting procedures.

In Benue State, reports of late arrival and alleged hijacking of election materials disrupted activities in some federal constituencies.
Meanwhile, APC leaders maintained that the primaries reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy ahead of the 2027 elections, although observers warned that unresolved disputes could create internal tensions within the party.
