#Rivers APC Chair Calls Out Fubara: Accusations of Broken Peace Deal.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, has leveled accusations against Governor Siminialayi Fubara for postponing the execution of an eight-point resolution aimed at resolving the political turmoil in the state. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), political unrest gripped Rivers State in October 2023 following threats from 27 legislators, alleged allies of Fubara’s predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to impeach the governor.

The conflict escalated when the state’s House of Assembly complex was set ablaze on October 30. In response to the escalating violence, President Bola Tinubu intervened, brokering a peace agreement to quell the unrest. Speaking to NAN in Port Harcourt, Chief Okocha criticized the slow pace of implementing the peace deal, expressing concern over its implications for the state’s political harmony. As a representative of Rivers on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Okocha also viewed the delay as a sign of disrespect towards the President and other key political figures.
