Amarachi Ugochukwu, a 32-year-old marketing staff at Globus Bank, was discovered dead in the Ikorodu branch of the bank, raising concerns of suicide. The tragic event unfolded on January 8, 2024.
According to sources, Ugochukwu’s lifeless body, along with an empty bottle of Sniper insecticide, was found in the staff toilet during a search prompted by her absence from her desk.
Colleagues became worried when her unanswered phone kept ringing on her table. The search led to the discovery of the locked toilet door, which was forcibly opened, revealing her motionless body with a suspected Snipper bottle.
A purported ‘suicide note’ was found in a diary on her table, expressing despair about wrong decisions, a troubled mind, and anticipation of extreme hardship in the future. The note concluded with apologies to family members.
Upon finding her, the branch management promptly contacted a medical doctor, who confirmed her demise. The police in Ikorodu have been notified, initiating an immediate investigation into the incident. The police have taken custody of the body for autopsy and preservation at Ikorodu General Hospital.
The family has been notified, and Ugochukwu is survived by her parents and siblings.
