Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has appointed a 28-year-old travel content creator, Pelumi Nubi, as the state tourism ambassador.
The governor announced this during a meeting with the content creator on Monday at the Lagos State government house, Alausa, Ikeja.
The Governor also offered to cover the cost of the travel, while gifting her a new apartment and a car.
Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat announced this in a post on his social media handle.
He wrote: “MOMENT: When Governor of Lagos, Mr @jidesanwoolu named @peluminubi_ as a Lagos Tourism Ambassador, the State will take over her entire bill for the trip, she gets a brand new car, an apartment in Lagos. Pelumi was so overwhelmed.”
Nubi, who completed her solo road trip from London, United Kingdom, to Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday was received at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of Lagos State Government by the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe.

Pelumi’s latest feat of traveling by road from London to Lagos was inspired by Nigerian biker Kunle Adeyanju who completed same trip for a polio campaign.
“He did it by bike two years ago. I was on the phone with him and mentioned how it was so cool what he did,” Pelumi said.
