City’s Flood Rescue Mission Intensifies

No Exception for Government Officials’ Buildings

Safeguarding Vital Infrastructure a Priority
HEADLINENEWS.NEWS reports that in a bold move, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that no building obstructing the city’s drainage system will be spared, regardless of ownership.
This initiative aims to mitigate flooding and protect the metropolis from disaster.
“We were not out to take anybody’s house down deliberately,” he asserted. “If it’s only one room that we need to take from the four-bedroom flat because it was built on the right of way, we take it and leave the remaining three rooms for you.”
Urging citizens to respect the law, the governor emphasized the need for joint efforts in maintaining a habitable environment. “We need to jointly respect the rules of our cohabitation,” he said. “That is what we are trying to do.”
