Colombian pop star Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy are set to perform the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City.
The duo will headline the show at Estadio Azteca on 11 June, performing Dai Dai, the official anthem of the tournament, just before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.

The anthem, whose title is derived from an Italian expression meaning “let’s go” or “come on,” is described as a celebration of football’s ability to connect people across different cultures and continents.
Alongside Shakira and Burna Boy, Colombian reggaeton artist J Balvin and South African singer Tyla are also scheduled to perform during the opening ceremony, which marks the beginning of the month-long tournament.

Organisers said the song was created to reflect the energy, passion, and global unity associated with the FIFA World Cup, adding that the collaboration brings together some of the most influential voices in global music.
The opening ceremony will be part of a series of celebrations across the tournament’s host nations. In Canada, singer Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette will perform before Canada’s opening match in Toronto, while in the United States, Katy Perry and rapper Future are expected to perform ahead of their national team’s match in Los Angeles.

Shakira’s appearance continues her long history with the World Cup, following her past performances on global hits associated with the tournament.

She is also expected to feature at the World Cup final on 19 July, where she will take part in a first-of-its-kind halftime show alongside Madonna and K-pop group BTS.
