President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Leader of the House of Representatives, Professor Julius Omozuanvbo Kayode Ihonvbere, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing him as a distinguished statesman, scholar, patriot and committed public servant.

In his goodwill message, the President celebrated Ihonvbere’s decades of service to Nigeria, highlighting his remarkable contributions in academia, governance and legislative leadership.
Tinubu noted that before venturing into politics, Ihonvbere built an outstanding academic career as a respected political scientist. He also acknowledged his service with the Ford Foundation, where he worked on peace, governance and social justice initiatives before returning to Nigeria in 2002 to serve under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The President praised Ihonvbere for his role in strengthening democratic institutions and supporting pro-democracy organisations through his work at the Ford Foundation.
Reflecting on his achievements in the National Assembly, Tinubu commended the House Leader for providing stable leadership in the 10th House of Representatives. He credited him with promoting cooperation among lawmakers and helping to advance the administration’s Renewed Hope legislative agenda.

The President also applauded Ihonvbere’s continued advocacy for educational development, describing his academic accomplishments as an inspiration to younger generations. He further acknowledged his representation of the people of Owan East/West Federal Constituency in Edo State, noting that he has remained connected to his constituents while serving with humility and dedication.

Tinubu equally praised the lawmaker’s commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that his experience, counsel and loyalty have contributed significantly to the party’s vision of building a more prosperous Nigeria.
As Professor Ihonvbere celebrates the milestone, the President prayed for God’s continued blessings, good health, renewed strength and many more years of impactful service to the nation.
He wished the House Leader a happy 70th birthday and expressed hope that his legacy of leadership and public service would continue to inspire Nigerians.
