The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has pledged his support for Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, in his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
Gbajabiamila gave the assurance on Sunday when Hamzat visited him at his residence in Surulere, Lagos, as part of ongoing consultations with party stakeholders.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives described Hamzat as a capable and experienced leader, expressing confidence in his ability to govern Lagos State effectively if given the opportunity.

“Dr Hamzat, you are a man of honour, and it shows in your approach to consultations. You can count on my support because I have full confidence in your capacity. My constituency, Surulere, is for you, and Lagos is for you,” he said.
Hamzat’s visit is part of a wider engagement strategy aimed at securing backing from key figures within the party ahead of the APC primary.
Also speaking during the meeting, former Minister of State for Defence and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Musiliu Obanikoro, said the deputy governor has received widespread endorsement from party leaders across the state.
He noted that consultations have been extensive and encouraging, reflecting growing support for Hamzat’s ambition.
Other members of the delegation present at the meeting included GAC Secretary, Alhaji Muti Are; Senator Ganiyu Solomon; Hon. Bode Oyedele; and several other party stakeholders.
The development signals increasing political activity within the Lagos APC as potential contenders intensify consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
