Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has praised President Bola Tinubu for supporting the state’s ongoing infrastructure development, stating that federal backing has played a key role in delivering major road projects and other developmental initiatives across Kaduna.

He disclosed that the Federal Government has approved several major infrastructure projects for Kaduna, including the proposed Kaduna Light Rail, making the state one of only two selected for the project alongside Lagos.

According to Uba Sani, the ₦1 trillion light rail project is expected to begin within the next two months, with contractors already deployed to commence preliminary work.

He also announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road project will take place within the coming week following the release of funds by the Federal Government.

The governor called on Kaduna residents to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration, saying the level of federal investment in the state deserves continued public backing in future elections.

He further encouraged voters in Zaria to support the re-election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as well as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on the newly launched road projects, Uba Sani assured residents that construction would be completed and the roads commissioned within five months.

He described quality road infrastructure as essential for economic development, noting that it improves access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other opportunities.

The governor added that his administration has initiated about 150 road projects covering more than 1,355 kilometres across Kaduna State, with many already completed as part of efforts to ensure balanced development throughout the state.

Also speaking at the event, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas commended President Tinubu for expanding federal educational institutions in Kaduna.

He noted that the Federal College of Education in Zaria has been upgraded to a Federal University of Education, while a Federal University of Applied Sciences has also been established in the state.

Abbas further revealed that the Federal Government is considering upgrading Kaduna Polytechnic into a Federal University of Technology, a move that would increase the number of federal universities in Kaduna to five.
