Tinubu Orders Forensic Audit of IPPIS to Expose Ghost Workers, Payroll Fraud
ABUJA – President Bola Tinubu has directed a comprehensive forensic audit of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) as part of efforts to uncover ghost workers, payroll irregularities and other forms of fraud within the Federal Government’s personnel system.
The directive is part of a broader move to examine government ministries, departments and agencies and determine whether public funds are being lost through weaknesses in the management of personnel and payroll records.
The audit is expected to scrutinise the existing IPPIS structure and related government systems, with particular attention to the accuracy of personnel records and the authenticity of individuals receiving salaries from public funds.
The exercise is also expected to help identify possible cases where individuals who are not legitimate government employees may have been included on official payrolls.
The review comes amid concerns over the effectiveness of existing mechanisms for managing the Federal Government’s workforce and preventing financial leakages.
By ordering the forensic examination, the administration is seeking to establish a clearer picture of how government personnel records are maintained and whether existing controls are sufficient to prevent manipulation and fraudulent payments.
The findings from the exercise are expected to guide further action by the government and strengthen measures designed to protect public funds.
