Kunle Olanrewaju, the Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters to President Tinubu, conveyed this assurance during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

Olanrewaju emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing key issues such as job creation, poverty reduction, and social development through the 2024 budget. He acknowledged the existing challenges faced by Nigerians but affirmed that the administration was dedicated to changing the narrative.

“Things are not very rosy for the average Nigerian; all of us are in the shoes, and we believe that we must change the narratives. And of course, that is why the president has focused this particular budget on solving the basic problems, particularly job creation, poverty reduction, and social development,” Olanrewaju stated.

He further asserted that despite the evident challenges, Nigerians would witness the positive impact of the budget shortly. Olanrewaju expressed confidence that the nation would see light at the end of the tunnel.

President Tinubu’s administration had presented the proposed N27.5 trillion 2024 budget to the National Assembly, emphasizing its focus on achieving micro-economic stability, poverty reduction, and improved access to social security.

The budget priorities included security, local job creation, macro-economic stability, investment environment optimization, human capital development, poverty reduction, and social security. The proposed allocations covered recurrent non-debt expenditure, capital expenditure, debt service, revenue, new borrowings, and deficit.

In a related development, the House of Representatives passed the 2024 budget for a second reading, commending President Tinubu’s emphasis on national security, education, and other critical sectors. House Leader Julius Ihonvbere expressed optimism that the budget allocations, particularly in defense and security, would enhance the nation’s security, while increased emphasis on basic education would positively impact the educational sector.
