#Tinubu’s Announcement: N35,000 Provisional Wage Award for Federal Government Workers.

During the launch of mechanized agricultural tools in Minna, the capital of Niger state, on Monday, Bola Tinubu discussed the recent approval of a provisional wage award for treasury-paid federal government workers. The wage award, amounting to N35,000, was sanctioned by Tinubu in October 2023 for a duration of six months, with payment expected to commence in September 2023.

The decision to grant the wage award came after deliberations between federal government representatives and organized labor leaders to avert an impending nationwide strike scheduled for October 3. The strike was planned in protest against the removal of the petrol subsidy and the prevailing economic hardships in the country.

Tinubu emphasized that the wage award would provide temporary relief to workers until a comprehensive review of the minimum wage is concluded. He encouraged state governments to adopt the wage award, stating that implementing it alongside the new minimum wage would not fuel inflation. Tinubu appealed to state authorities to prioritize the welfare of their workers by promptly implementing the wage award, underscoring its significance in alleviating public burdens.

Acknowledging the potential impact on market dynamics, Tinubu expressed confidence that gradually introducing the new salary structure alongside the wage award would mitigate inflationary pressures, ensuring stability in the economy.

By advocating for the timely disbursement of the wage award and promoting responsible wage policies, Tinubu aimed to alleviate the financial strain on workers while fostering sustainable economic growth.Breaking news HeadlineHeadline news
