Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has condemned the reported blockade of Peter Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State.
Keyamo described the incident as unacceptable and questioned the circumstances surrounding the disruption of Obi’s movement.
The former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who is now running under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, was reportedly prevented from reaching Yelewata, where he had gone to meet victims and families affected by the deadly attacks in the community.
Obi later condemned the incident, saying political differences should not result in actions capable of threatening the safety of political opponents or disrupting their lawful movements.
Reacting to the development, Keyamo criticised the obstruction and said political disagreements should be handled through democratic processes rather than confrontation.
The incident has generated political reactions, with opposition figures and other political actors calling for an investigation into what happened and urging authorities to protect the rights and safety of political candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
