TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION WILL FACILITATE RESTRUCTURING, SAYS DIRI

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has said the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 could create an opportunity for Nigeria to pursue meaningful restructuring.

Diri, who has expressed support for restructuring the country, said Tinubu’s administration had demonstrated an understanding of the need to address some of Nigeria’s structural challenges.

The governor argued that securing a second term for Tinubu would provide continuity and give the administration more time to advance reforms that could lead to changes in the country’s political and economic structure.

According to Diri, restructuring remains important to achieving a more balanced and effective federation, with greater opportunities for states and regions to develop according to their individual strengths.

He maintained that the ongoing reforms under the Tinubu administration could provide a foundation for broader changes if the government receives another mandate.

Diri’s position adds to the growing political debate over restructuring and the 2027 presidential election, as various political leaders and groups continue to discuss the future structure of the Nigerian federation.
