Governor pledges three million votes as Rainbow Coalition brings APC, PDP supporters together for President’s second-term bid
Headlinenews.News | Port Harcourt
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign received a significant boost in Rivers State on Saturday as thousands of supporters gathered in Port Harcourt, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike publicly rallied behind his second-term ambition.

The November 7 gathering at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium combined a large turnout with a politically significant display of cooperation between the governor and his predecessor, whose reconciliation has reshaped the state’s political alignment.

Organised by the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition, the rally brought together APC and PDP supporters under a common presidential campaign platform. Fubara reaffirmed his participation in the alliance and pledged to mobilise at least three million votes for Tinubu.
The governor said the campaign would proceed under Wike’s leadership, with coalition supporters working to secure victory for their adopted candidates. His declaration established an ambitious mobilisation target for the presidential contest.

TINUBU SALUTES RECONCILIATION
Addressing the gathering, Tinubu thanked Rivers voters for their contribution to his 2023 victory and sought their renewed backing to consolidate his administration’s programmes.
He particularly commended Fubara for accepting the intervention of political elders during the state’s crisis, praising his maturity and commitment to peace.
“Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” the President assured him.

The exchange placed reconciliation at the centre of the day’s political message, giving the coalition an opportunity to demonstrate cooperation before its supporters.
Wike, in his welcome address, presented the turnout as evidence of strong support for Tinubu. He thanked the President for appointments given to Rivers indigenes and cited federal interventions, including the Bonny–Bodo Road and the Federal University of Environment in Ogoniland.

CAMPAIGN ENERGY MEETS GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION
Flags, campaign materials and musical performances animated the stadium as support groups joined political leaders for the event. Those present included Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda.

Tinubu defended his economic programme, saying his administration was tackling inherited obligations, including pension and gratuity backlogs, while working towards broader prosperity. Shettima also appealed for continued support for the President’s re-election.
For the President’s campaign, the Port Harcourt gathering provided both a show of numerical strength and a platform for consolidating alliances. Its electoral significance will depend on how effectively the coalition turns that enthusiasm into sustained organisation and votes.

NATIONAL PATRIOTS’ COMMENT — 60 WORDS
The National Patriots regards the Rivers rally as an encouraging demonstration of political cooperation and grassroots mobilisation for President Tinubu. Wike and Fubara should sustain their reconciliation and unite supporters around peace, development and continuity. The next task is clear: strengthen voter education, encourage PVC collection and translate this enthusiasm into lawful votes, while advancing policies that improve everyday livelihoods.
