Ramadhan 1445AH Nuggets*
*Every Country follows their own moon sighting*
Narrated Kurayb:
I came to Syria and tended to my needs. The crescent of Ramadhan appeared over me while I was in Syria and I saw it on Friday, then I came to Madinah at the end of the month. Abdullah ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, asked me about it and I mentioned the crescent. Ibn Abbas said, “ *When did you see it*?” I said, “We saw it on Friday night.” Ibn Abbas said, “You saw it?” I said, “Yes, people saw it and they fasted, as did Mu’awiyah.” Ibn Abbas said, “ *But we saw it on Saturday night, so we will continue fasting until we complete thirty days or we see it.*” I said, “Is it not enough that Mu’awiyah saw it and he fasted?” Ibn Abbas said, “ *No, such was the command of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ).*”

عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ فَقَدِمْتُ الشَّامَ فَقَضَيْتُ حَاجَتَهَا وَاسْتُهِلَّ عَلَيَّ رَمَضَانُ وَأَنَا بِالشَّامِ فَرَأَيْتُ الْهِلَالَ لَيْلَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ ثُمَّ قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فِي آخِرِ الشَّهْرِ فَسَأَلَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَاللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الْهِلَالَ فَقَالَ مَتَى رَأَيْتُمْ الْهِلَالَ فَقُلْتُ رَأَيْنَاهُ لَيْلَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ رَأَيْتَهُ فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ وَرَآهُ النَّاسُ وَصَامُوا وَصَامَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَقَالَ لَكِنَّا رَأَيْنَاهُ لَيْلَةَ السَّبْتِ فَلَا نَزَالُنَصُومُ حَتَّى نُكْمِلَ ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ نَرَاهُ فَقُلْتُ أَوَ لَا تَكْتَفِي بِرُؤْيَةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَصِيَامِهِ فَقَالَ لَا هَكَذَا أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

*NOTES 📝*
1. Allah made the new moons to count the months and years. With the sighting of the crescent, one month begins and another ends, and based on that sighting, many obligatory duties are determined, such as begining and end of fasting in the month of Ramadhan and Hajj rights.
2. Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen stated that there are as many as six different opinions amongst the scholars concerning this issue (i.e. sighting of the crescent to start a new month). However, there are two main points of view; local (individual country) or international sighting of crescent (moon). He thereafter concluded that everyone’s sighting of the new moon in their own country is the most correct because it aligns with the evidences from the Qur’an and Sunnah, and this is the major lesson exemplified by the sahaba (Companions) in the hadith under review without rancor. – al-Aqalliyaat al-Muslimah, Ibn Uthaymeen
3. Imam Al-Tirmidhi said, “The people of knowledge act upon this tradition, that the people of every land have their own moon sighting.” – Sunan al-Tirmidhī 693
4. *Watchout for the new crescent 🌙 of Shawwal around Maghrib later today. If the sighting is confirmed by the Muslim authorities and announced, that marks the end of Ramadhan 1445AH. Otherwise, we complete the count to 30 days and pray ‘Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday in sha’ a Allah.*
*O Allah, aid us in becoming righteous, grant us Taqwa so that we may do abundant good deeds during the month of Ramadhan and beyond. O Allah, You are Forgiving. You love to forgive, so forgive us. O Allah! Accept our ibadaat (all forms of shari’ah permissible worship) and make us enter al-Jannah Firdaws. Ãmeen.*
Day 30th: “To those who believe and do deeds of righteousness hath Allah promised forgiveness and a great reward.” Q5:9. Recite YA RAHEEMU (100) SUBUHANAKA ANTA ALLAHU ARHAMU- RAHEEMINA (111).
A man came to Amir ul
Muhmineen, ‘Ali bn Abee
Taalib and said,
“I will ask you four questions,
so give me their answers”:
-What is compulsory, and what
is most compulsory?
-What is close-by, and what is
most close-by?
-What is amazing, and what is
most amazing?
-What is difficult, and what is
most difficult?
The Amir ul-Mu’mineen
answered:
-What is compulsory is
Obeying and worshipping
ALLAAH, and what is most
compulsory is Abandoning sins
and disobedience to ALLAAH!
-What is close-by is The Day of
Judgement, and what is most
close-by is DEATH!
-What is amazing is the Dunya,
and what is most amazing is
the love of the dunya!
-What is difficult is the Grave
and what is most difficult is
Leaving this world without
Provision (for it)!
Oh ALLAAH, the changer of the
hearts, please make my heart
steadfast upon your religion.
Oh my LORD, whoever opens
this message of mine, and
reads it, please open for him,
the door of your blessings and
provision from the heavens
and the earth.
…And whoever spreads it
amongst your slaves, do not
deny him your paradise…
