#Tragic Tale: Nigerian Migrant in UK Fatally Beats Wife with Skateboard

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Olubunmi Abodunde, a Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom, has tragically beaten his wife, Taiwo, to death using their son’s skateboard.

The couple, who migrated from Nigeria to the UK in 2022, had a history of disputes, often revolving around alleged infidelity and financial matters.

Abodunde, aged 48, had been under investigation by Suffolk Police for domestic violence incidents, and despite being due for a murder trial, he changed his plea to guilty on Wednesday after the commencement of jury selection.

During one of the episodes of abuse, officers heard noises indicative of violence emanating from the couple’s residence, despite Abodunde being prohibited from accessing the property following a prior violent altercation.

Upon entering the residence 25 minutes later, they discovered Taiwo, 41, with fatal head injuries.

Judge Martyn Levett, presiding over the Ipswich Crown Court, cautioned Abodunde that the only possible outcome of his actions is a life sentence.

Following the incident, Suffolk Constabulary referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), with three officers under investigation for potential misconduct.

Abodunde, who had a history of jealousy and suspicion, accused his wife of infidelity and had previously been arrested for domestic violence.

The tragic event unfolded on April 27, 2023, when police responded to a report of violence at the couple’s home, finding Mrs. Abodunde injured.

Despite bail conditions, Abodunde returned to the residence shortly after his release, leading to the fatal confrontation.

A post-mortem examination revealed the severity of the attack, indicating that Taiwo had been strangled, beaten, and ultimately killed with a skateboard.

During his arrest, Abodunde exhibited signs of mental distress and later claimed self-defense, alleging that his wife attacked him with a knife, a claim unsupported by evidence.

Abodunde, who worked at Tesco and Wickes due to unemployment in his trained profession, will be sentenced on May 9, while the tragedy has left a lasting impact on the community and Taiwo’s family.
