Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested four suspects, including two foreign nationals and two brothers accused of supplying logistics to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, during separate security operations in Borno State.
The arrests were carried out on July 19 in Askira/Uba and Damboa Local Government Areas as part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and dismantle support networks in Nigeria’s North-East.
According to security sources, personnel of the 115 Task Force Battalion apprehended two foreign suspects during a routine operation in the Lassa–Dilli area of Askira/Uba.
The first suspect, identified as 32-year-old Musa Fashir, is alleged to be a Sudanese national believed to have possible links to terrorist groups operating in the region.
The second suspect, 36-year-old Mary Florence, reportedly informed investigators that she is an undocumented immigrant from Ghana.
Both individuals are currently in military custody while authorities verify their identities, immigration status and investigate any possible connections to terrorist organisations.
Security agencies are also examining whether the suspects had any operational or logistical ties with insurgent groups active in the North-East.
In a separate operation conducted the same day, troops from the 19 Battalion (Mechanised) and the 25 Task Force Brigade Garrison arrested two brothers during a farm protection patrol in the Nzuda area of Damboa Local Government Area.
The suspects, Audu Abdullahi, 25, and Shettima Abdullahi, 30, both from Kasabalari village in Damboa, were allegedly transporting supplies intended for suspected ISWAP members operating around Wajiroko.
Items recovered from them included two bicycles, a mobile phone with two SIM cards, an identity card, bicycle tyres and tubes, pesticide containers, pain relief medication, a small solar panel, a rechargeable torchlight, two locally made knives and other materials.
The suspects and all recovered items remain in military custody as investigations continue.
Military sources said the operations highlight continued concerns over the role of both foreign nationals and local collaborators in sustaining insurgent activities through logistics and supply networks.
Authorities noted that intelligence officers are conducting detailed profiling and background checks on all the suspects to determine the extent of their involvement and identify any wider terrorist connections.
The arrests form part of Operation HADIN KAI’s ongoing campaign to dismantle terrorist cells, intercept supply chains and strengthen security across Borno State and other parts of the North-East.
Security agencies have also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing credible information to support efforts aimed at combating insurgency and preventing terrorist activities in the region.
