US President Donald Trump has arrived in Beijing for a high-stakes diplomatic visit expected to shape global trade relations and address rising geopolitical tensions, particularly the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

Chinese authorities rolled out an elaborate welcome ceremony for Trump, with hundreds of children waving American and Chinese flags, military honors, and top Chinese officials receiving the US president upon arrival. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng personally welcomed Trump on behalf of Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
The visit is expected to focus on major issues including trade negotiations, technology restrictions, Taiwan, investment cooperation, and global security concerns.

One of the most significant issues overshadowing the talks is the ongoing conflict involving Iran, which has contributed to a global energy crisis and increased pressure on oil markets. Trump is reportedly expected to urge China to use its relationship with Tehran to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz and encourage renewed peace negotiations.
Chinese officials have remained cautious publicly, although Iran’s ambassador to China recently described Beijing as an important force in reducing tensions between Tehran and Washington.

The US delegation accompanying Trump includes several senior officials such as Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, and Scott Bessent.
A large group of business executives also joined the trip, including Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and executives from major American companies such as Apple, Tesla, Boeing, Meta, and Nvidia.

Trump’s arrival has generated major attention on Chinese social media, where hashtags welcoming the US president quickly became top trends.
The visit also highlights how much US-China relations have evolved since Trump’s previous trip to Beijing in 2017, with both countries now locked in stronger economic, technological, and geopolitical competition.
Chinese authorities have also tightened security around major landmarks in Beijing ahead of official ceremonies and meetings expected during the visit.
