U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium, marking his first appearance at a match during this year’s tournament.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the president’s attendance, describing the final as a fitting end to a tournament that highlighted the United States’ ability to successfully host one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has also announced that Trump will participate in the post-match trophy presentation. In a departure from long-standing tradition, the U.S. president and the FIFA chief are expected to jointly present the World Cup trophy to the victorious team.

Although Trump has publicly backed preparations for the World Cup and the joint North American hosting effort, he has not attended any matches until the final.
The White House has not disclosed which of the two finalists the president will be supporting, a topic that has attracted attention following recent diplomatic tensions between the United States and Spain during the NATO summit.

The final, taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, brings the curtain down on the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted across North America. Spain secured its place in the final after defeating France, while defending champions Argentina advanced by overcoming England.
