#UNILORIN Expels 19 Students Including 6 Final-Year Scholars For Exam Malpractice And Theft

The University of Ilorin has announced the expulsion and suspension of 19 students, including six final-year students, for various offenses. The statement was released on Monday, April 1, 2024, by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun. The decisions to expel or suspend the students were approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, following the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th/221st meeting.

The offenses committed by the students ranged from misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, and admission racketeering. Penalties for these offenses included suspension for one semester or one academic session, as well as outright expulsion. The affected students were from different academic levels, including 100, 200, 300, and 400 Levels, belonging to faculties and departments such as Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries; Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development; Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages; CIS/Library and Information Science; CIS/Telecommunication Science; Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies; Engineering and Tech/Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Engr and Tech/Materials and Metallurgical Engineering; and Life Science/Zoology.

Among the expelled students were individuals like Lateef Lukman Olayemi (Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries), Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan (Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development), Adebisi Janet Bosede (Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages), Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi (CIS/Library and Information Science), Ashekun Oladiji Quadri (CIS/Telecommunication Science), Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba (Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies), Musa Mohammed Asuku (Engineering and Tech/Electrical and Electronic Engineering), Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi (Engr and Tech/Materials and Metallurgical Engineering), Ayinla Jamiu Olaitan (Life Science/Zoology), Adebayo Adeleke (Arts/Performing Arts), Hassan Hanan Adebola (Arts/History and International Studies), Amatokwu Evans (Education/Art Education), Ayodele Samuel Koseunti (Arts/History and International Studies), Toki Opeyemi Ayomide (Arts/History and International Studies), and Makinde Usman Ayomide (Arts/Linguistics and Nigeria Languages).
