Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the demand in a post on X (formerly Twitter), accusing the influencer of spreading false and misleading content online.

Onanuga stated that VDM should be made to “face the weight of the law” for allegedly acting as a distributor of fabricated audio content purportedly linked to the President, describing the act as an abuse of social media platforms.

His reaction followed comments from an X user who questioned the authenticity of the viral audio, which was widely shared online. The clip reportedly featured claims used by VDM to discourage Nigerians from supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

The controversy has sparked fresh debate on misinformation and the use of digital platforms to influence political narratives in Nigeria.
