The Anambra State Government has intervened to rescue 11-year-old Happiness Nwafor from her abusive employer in Onitsha. The Ministry of Women and Social Welfares received a report on January 31, 2024, and promptly dispatched a team to address the situation. The minor revealed that her employer, Adachukwu Chukere Okafor, brutally assaulted her for touching her daughter’s body, using items like a broken bottle, iron, knife, and pistol within just two weeks of her stay. Investigations revealed additional mistreatment, including burning the girl’s clothes. The victim is now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Awka. The suspect, claiming legal knowledge, allegedly remains unresponsive to calls.
