The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the appointment of Senator Magnus Abe from Rivers State as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Wike expressed his appreciation during a “thank you” visit to Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area in Rivers State, where he described the nomination as a positive development for the state.

He also praised President Tinubu for appointing another Rivers indigene, Kenneth Kobani, as a non-executive member of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Abe served two terms as senator representing Rivers South-East, previously sat on the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and currently chairs the National Agency for the Great Green Wall.
Kobani, on his part, previously served as Minister of State for Trade during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan and was also Secretary to the Rivers State Government while Wike was governor.

Wike said the appointments reflect President Tinubu’s strong commitment to Rivers State, noting that the state has never benefited so significantly from federal appointments since its creation.
He further stated that the growing number of appointments given to Rivers indigenes under the current administration demonstrates that the president keeps his promises. Wike urged residents of the state to continue supporting Tinubu, especially as he looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area, Vincent Nemieoboka, described Wike as a key driver of development in the area and thanked him for facilitating numerous appointments for indigenes at both state and federal levels. He assured the minister of the local government’s full political support in 2027.

Also speaking, Ambassador Mourine Tamuno, the Group Managing Director of Abuja Investment Company Limited and a native of the area, expressed gratitude to Wike for creating opportunities for the people, pledging continued support from the community, including women and youths.
