Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu welcomed United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the Presidential Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja on Wednesday. Sanwo-Olu expressed Lagos State’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and discussing shared interests for a brighter future. He commended Blinken for acknowledging Lagos as a tech and innovation hub, emphasizing the city’s role in fostering innovative success. Sanwo-Olu stated, “Our city remains open to fostering international partnerships that contribute to our collective progress.”
Blinken, on a six-day tour of Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Angola, aims to foster economic partnerships and improve relations with the continent. He announced the US collaboration with Nigeria to address energy generation and combat plastic pollution, unveiling the American Corner in the Lekki area of Lagos as part of these initiatives.
