The Coalition of Yobe-East Progressive Youths has mobilized N188 million to back the 2027 governorship ambition of former Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan.

The coalition’s leader, Dr. Yerima Goni, announced the fundraising on Monday in Damaturu, explaining that the initiative was designed to promote civic engagement and encourage active participation from youth and other stakeholders.

According to Goni, the funds were collected through pledges, bank transfers, and cash contributions. He emphasized that the group is committed to fostering good governance and increasing youth involvement in leadership processes.

The event saw wide participation, including youths, community leaders, supporters, and other stakeholders from across the state.
Senator Lawan, while acknowledging the support, described it as an example of responsible citizenship and noted that the donations reflect the grassroots’ enthusiasm for political leadership. Though he has not formally declared his intention to run for governor, Lawan expressed readiness to heed the call to serve the state.
