Yusuf Lauds Massive Turnout as APC Holds Senatorial Primary in Katsina
APC chieftain Yusuf has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the party’s senatorial primary held on Monday at Sarkin Yara (A) Ward in the Daura Senatorial District of Katsina North, describing the large turnout of supporters as a clear sign of the party’s strength in the area.
Speaking with journalists shortly after casting his vote, Yusuf said the impressive presence of party faithful reflected the APC’s strong grassroots support in the district.
“I’m here to show my support for the candidates and for the APC. I’m really encouraged by the massive crowd and support I have seen here today. Everything is going smoothly, Alhamdulillah,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the party would maintain its dominance in the district, adding that APC supporters remained united and committed ahead of future elections.

“This is the home of the APC, so everything will go in order, Insha Allah. I want to thank all APC supporters and voters for their continued support,” Yusuf added.
Meanwhile, Governor Dikko Radda also oversaw the affirmation of Muntari Dandutse as the APC consensus candidate for the Katsina South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, which took place at the Isma’ila Isa Funtua Township Stadium, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across the district in a show of unity and support.
The Chairman of the APC National Headquarters Consensus Affirmation Committee, Garba Gombe, praised the peaceful conduct of the process, describing Katsina as a model for internal party democracy.
He noted that while other states experienced tensions over multiple aspirants, Katsina stood out due to extensive consultations and strong leadership.

“Katsina State has set a national benchmark in the implementation of the consensus arrangement. It remains the most peaceful and well-organised exercise recorded so far within the party’s ongoing nomination process across the country,” he said.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Abdulkadir Nasir, also said the consensus arrangement had strengthened unity and political stability within Katsina South.
In a related development, Governor Radda also attended the affirmation and endorsement of Senator Abdul-Aziz Yar’adua as the APC consensus candidate for Katsina Central Senatorial District.
The event, held at the Katsina Township Stadium, drew party leaders and stakeholders from across the district, where Yar’adua was endorsed for a second term.
Officials of the APC National Headquarters Consensus Affirmation Committee and the Local Electoral Committee confirmed that the consensus arrangement was reached on April 29, 2026, in line with the party’s constitution.
