The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Olanipekun Olukoyede, has commended Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, describing developments in the state as evidence of transformational leadership.
Olukoyede made the remarks while delivering the keynote address at a lecture marking the 30th anniversary of Zamfara State at the Government House in Gusau.
He disclosed that he carried out background checks on the state and its governor before accepting the invitation to speak at the anniversary celebration.
According to him, his visit to Gusau revealed visible changes, including the construction of a new airport, improved road infrastructure and the installation of solar-powered streetlights.
The EFCC chairman also noted that Zamfara had recorded improvements in students’ performance in national examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO).
He said the developments reflected ongoing reforms and efforts to improve infrastructure and public services across the state.
Olukoyede further disclosed that he had discussed his observations with President Bola Tinubu and highlighted the need to support the work being undertaken by Governor Lawal.
In his remarks, Lawal said the anniversary theme, “Reflections, Achievements, and the Future,” was designed to assess the state’s past challenges and identify priorities for its development.
The governor explained that his administration’s Six-Point Rescue Agenda was aimed at addressing immediate challenges, while the Zamfara State Development Plan 2025–2034 provides a long-term framework for development in areas such as infrastructure, the economy, education, social welfare and governance.
He urged stakeholders to translate government policies and commitments into measurable improvements in the lives of residents.
