Prominent businessman and socialite Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has officially received his appointment letter as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a post on Instagram, Cubana shared that Seyi Tinubu visited him at his residence on Monday night to hand over the certificate of appointment. The City Boy Movement, aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had previously announced his selection as South-East Zonal Coordinator in January 2026.

The role tasks Cubana with mobilising youths in the South-East in support of President Tinubu’s second-term campaign ahead of the 2027 elections. In a video shared on social media early Tuesday, Seyi Tinubu handed Cubana the letter, and the two, alongside other members of the group, performed the campaign anthem “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand.”
Cubana described the visit as an opportunity to discuss national issues and defended his acceptance of the role amidst public debate.
“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.

He also emphasised that his new position will not compromise his commitment to integrity, community development, and responsible leadership.
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside—so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” Cubana declared.

On President Tinubu, he said:
“He is a City Boy and a man of commerce. All of us need all of us to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do.”
Cubana urged Nigerians to respect differing opinions, remain focused on national development, and work towards building tangible value for the country.

“The moment is now—we move!” he stated, thanking supporters and pledging to promote inclusivity and unity in his new role.
