Authorities in Japan have issued an alert after North Korea reportedly launched a suspected ballistic missile on Saturday.
The development was disclosed by the office of the Japanese prime minister in a message posted on its verified account on X.
According to the statement, authorities are closely monitoring the situation while gathering more information about the missile launch.
In its brief notice to the public, the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the development and said more updates would follow.
“North Korea has launched a suspected ballistic missile. More updates to follow,” the statement said.
The announcement did not immediately provide details about the missile’s trajectory, its range, or where it may have landed.
Officials in Japan said further information would be released as investigations continue and monitoring systems assess the situation.
North Korea has conducted multiple missile tests in recent years, often prompting strong reactions from neighbouring countries and the international community due to concerns about regional security.
