Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for a more compassionate and love-driven world, urging leaders and citizens alike to go beyond policies in addressing global challenges.
She made the appeal on Thursday while speaking at Lambeth Palace in central London during a church service attended as part of her visit to the United Kingdom.
According to a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady was received at the palace—official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury—by the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion, Bishop Anthony Poggo.

In her remarks, Mrs Tinubu stressed that today’s complex global issues require not just strategies and government policies, but actions rooted in empathy, kindness, and compassion.
During the visit, she interacted with religious leaders and met representatives of the Church of England, including Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover, and Bishop Emma Ineson, acting Bishop of London.
She also led special prayers for the royal family and world leaders, emphasising the need for unity and spiritual guidance in leadership.
After touring parts of Lambeth Palace, the First Lady met with officials of the Anglican Communion and the Anglican Alliance, which operates across 42 churches worldwide, and signed the visitors’ register.
Her visit comes as part of President Bola Tinubu’s two-day state visit to the UK, during which the presidential couple met King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and were hosted at a state banquet at Windsor Castle.
