Seyi Makinde has reportedly settled for former Commissioner for Finance, Bimbo Adekanmbi, as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
Adekanmbi, who served under the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi, was said to have emerged after a series of consultations involving major political stakeholders in the state.
Reports also indicate that the governor has identified candidates for the three senatorial districts in the state. They include Dhikirulah Stanley Adedeji for Oyo South, Shina Abiola Peller for Oyo North, and Ajadi Olufemi Oguntoyinbo for Oyo Central.
Speaking during a phone conversation on Wednesday night, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Michael Ogunshina, confirmed the development.
However, Governor Makinde is yet to officially make a public announcement regarding his preferred candidates for the 2027 elections.
