Ado-Ekiti—Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has again expressed support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
Fayose made the declaration during the grand finale of Oyebanji’s campaign tour in Ado-Ekiti, stating that political stakeholders who previously supported victories for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji would continue to do so in upcoming elections, including the 2027 general polls.
The former governor, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said members of his political group known as “Iruwa Ogiriwa” remain firmly behind Oyebanji, praising the governor’s leadership style and governance approach.
He explained that despite his PDP membership, he supports Oyebanji due to what he described as effective performance and inclusive leadership in the state.
Fayose added that the current administration has maintained stability and progress in governance, which he believes justifies another term in office.
He also remarked that the political group’s support previously contributed to electoral victories in the state and would continue to play a role in future elections.
Governor Oyebanji, in his response, promised to deliver more development projects if re-elected, noting that several infrastructural initiatives are still underway.
He also described the upcoming governorship election as significant for strengthening support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
