Court Dismisses Suit Seeking Jonathan’s Disqualification, Awards ₦20m Cost
The Federal High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory has dismissed a suit that sought to stop former President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
In its ruling, the court held that the case amounted to an abuse of court process and consequently struck it out.
The judge also awarded ₦20 million in costs against the plaintiff, to be paid in favour of Jonathan.
The suit had sought to challenge Jonathan’s eligibility to participate in the upcoming election, but the court found no merit in the application and dismissed it accordingly.
