The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, has unveiled a five-year strategic plan aimed at strengthening the board’s credibility, improving its digital systems and delivering better services to candidates and other stakeholders.
Speaking on his first day in office on Monday, Aina said the roadmap, titled “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,” is designed to build on the achievements of his predecessor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, while positioning JAMB as Africa’s most trusted and innovative examination and admissions body.
He described his appointment as both “a homecoming and a solemn responsibility,” promising to focus on innovation, stronger institutional systems and improved service delivery.
According to him, the 2026–2031 strategic plan is built around two major objectives, five key pillars and seven flagship initiatives that will improve the board’s operations and restore greater public confidence in its examination and admission processes.
Aina said the reform agenda would prioritise institutional integrity, customer service, good governance, technology and strategic partnerships to make JAMB more efficient and improve the experience of candidates and other stakeholders.
As part of the reforms, the board plans to strengthen transparency and accountability by adopting internationally recognised standards, including ISO 27001 Information Security Certification, while deploying more advanced digital systems to support examinations, admissions and internal operations.
The registrar also announced plans to conduct an independent review of JAMB’s technology infrastructure, develop a unified mobile application, establish a centralised customer service platform, implement a paperless administrative system and invest more in staff welfare and capacity development.
He stressed that while technology would play a central role in the board’s transformation, the reforms would remain focused on people.
“Every registration represents the dreams of a young Nigerian and the sacrifices of parents and guardians,” Aina said.
He assured candidates and the public that his administration would work to simplify processes, improve communication and uphold fairness, transparency and integrity in every aspect of JAMB’s operations.
