The 2026 Minna Annual International Polo Tournament came to a close over the weekend at the IBB Polo Ground in Minna, with Profile and Bago Farm emerging as the standout teams after claiming several of the competition’s major titles.
The week-long championship, regarded as Niger State’s premier sporting and tourism event, attracted more than 20 teams from across the country. Among the tournament’s biggest highlights were the impressive performances of young polo stars Khalil Babangida, Khalifa Babangida and Marwan Bago, as well as another dominant outing by the renowned EL-Amin polo stable.
Representing Profile, the EL-Amin team successfully defended both the prestigious IBB Cup and the Abdulsalami Cup after defeating Jos Malcomines 6–4 in an entertaining final. Khalil and Khalifa Babangida also inspired Profile to victory in the General Hassan Katsina Cup.
Bago Farm also enjoyed a memorable campaign, with Marwan Bago leading the team to triumph in both the Governor’s Cup and the Emir of Minna Cup. The Bida Warriors, made up of players from EL-Amin International School, retained the Aisha Babangida Cup to record their second consecutive title.
Elsewhere, Blue Team lifted the Niger State First Lady Cup, while Alhassan Aliyu and Mukhtar Hassan guided their side to victory in the Late Dawule Baba Memorial Cup.
