The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of nine bodies along the Wawa-Lumma road in Borgu Local Government Area of the state.

The victims were suspected to have been killed by bandits while travelling along the road.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Minna. He said the bodies were recovered after the police and military received information about the incident on Tuesday.
According to him, security personnel were immediately deployed to the area to evacuate the bodies and secure the location.

He added that clearance operations had been intensified to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of people travelling along the road.
“Police and military tactical teams were mobilised to the scene; the bodies were recovered, while clearance operations were intensified to secure the area,” Abiodun said.
Security forces are continuing operations in the area as authorities work to address the security threat along the route.
