CP BODE OJAJUNI RECEIVES NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS AND AFENIFERE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL DELEGATIONS, STRENGTHENS COLLABORATION ON CAMPUS SAFETY, YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AND CRIME PREVENTIO
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, received separate delegations from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by its Secretary General, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, and the Afenifere National Youth Council, led by its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, on strategic courtesy visits to the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The visits were aimed at strengthening collaborative frameworks between the Nigeria Police Force and key youth and student stakeholders, addressing security challenges within tertiary institutions, promoting value re-orientation and deepening joint efforts towards crime prevention and public safety across Ogun State.
During the engagement with the NANS delegation, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman expressed profound appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for the commendable achievements recorded since assuming leadership of the Ogun State Police Command. He briefed the CP on prevailing security challenges within tertiary institutions across the State, particularly concerns relating to the protection of lives and property and the prevalence of social vices.
He pledged the association’s continuous support to the Command in ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for students across Ogun State. In recognition of the CP’s exemplary leadership and commitment to youth welfare, the NANS leadership formally conferred on CP Bode Ojajuni the prestigious honour of NANS National Ambassador Against Social Vices.
In his response, CP Bode Ojajuni appreciated the NANS delegation for the visit and expressed sincere gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him. He underscored the vital role of the student body in maintaining peaceful and secure campus environments, noting that the Police Command remains relentless in fulfilling its core mandate of protecting lives and property and preventing criminality.
The Commissioner highlighted the proactive operational measures and strategic engagements implemented by the Command, noting that these interventions have yielded positive results in tertiary institutions across the State.
CP Ojajuni further highlighted that the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has been officially launched in Ogun State, with an upcoming statewide sensitization campaign targeting the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices. He called for the active collaboration of NANS to ensure maximum impact of the campaign across tertiary institutions.
Receiving the delegation from the Afenifere National Youth Council, the Commissioner of Police and members of his management team were warmly commended by the National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, for the remarkable achievements recorded under the leadership of CP Bode Ojajuni. He expressed the delight of the youth populace over the Command’s uncompromising stance against all forms of criminality in Ogun State.
In recognition of the Commissioner’s exceptional operational strides and unwavering commitment to public safety, the Afenifere National Youth Council presented CP Bode Ojajuni with a distinguished award as the “Best Commissioner of Police in the South-West of Nigeria on Security.” The President subsequently pledged the unwavering support of the Council to the Ogun State Police Command in maintaining public safety and order.
Responding, CP Bode Ojajuni appreciated the delegation for the visit and expressed profound gratitude for the prestigious award. He reminded the Council that, as a socio-cultural organization, it must remain strictly apolitical and focused on its core responsibility of promoting the welfare and development of the people.
The Commissioner emphasized that the decline in moral and cultural values remains a significant factor contributing to rising crime and youth involvement in social vices. He therefore charged the leadership of the Afenifere National Youth Council to actively advocate for hard work, diligence, integrity, discipline, mutual respect and responsible citizenship among youths.
CP Ojajuni further invited the Council to partner with the Ogun State Police Command in promoting moral re-engineering, youth engagement and community-driven crime prevention initiatives across the State.
The Commissioner reiterated that the Ogun State Police Command remains committed to sustained engagement with students, youths, community leaders, traditional institutions and other stakeholders, recognizing that effective policing and sustainable security require collective responsibility, strategic partnership and continuous dialogue.
